Tibet Vision Project

Founded by ophthalmologist Marc Lieberman, The Tibet Project has an ambitious goal: To end preventable blindness in Tibet—which has the highest rate of untreated cataract blindness in the world—by the year 2020. The Tibet Project is one of the few international health organizations functioning within Tibet. ​ 
Dr. Lieberman travels regularly to Tibet with a team of doctors, nurses and technicians. The group runs “eye camps” providing basic eye care and cataract operations, restoring sight to thousands of Tibetan people.

Dr. Lieberman has received public recognition of his achievements in various venues. In 2003, he was named Humanitarian of the Year by the American Academy of Ophthalmology. The work of the project has also been documented in the independent film “Visioning Tibet.”
